Therrien's hat trick helped the Islanders crush the Wild 5-2

Cole Therrien led the way with a hat trick as the Cape Cod Islanders crushed the Maine Wild 5-2 in a home game at Biddeford Arena in Cape Cod. Jack Conway also had a big night with 4 points (1 goal, 3 assists). In addition, the Cape Cod Islanders' offense had a big night, peppering Maine with 30 shots throughout the game. The Cape Cod Islanders took the lead late in the second on a goal from Leevi Kervinen.

Christopher Constable chipped in with 2 assists. Jeffrey Gratz did his part, adding 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist).

In the first, Therrien opened the scoring for the Islanders with a goal at 7:02 with helpers from Hinckley and Conway. Shestakov quickly followed with a goal at 7:57 with helpers from his linemates, Gratz and Ledbetter. Therrien answered for Cape Cod with a goal at 10:12 with assists from his linemates, Constable and Conway.

During the second, Gratz answered for Maine with a goal at 15:28 with a helper from Bannon. Kervinen answered for the Islanders with what turned out to be the game winning goal at 17:39 with assists from his linemates, St. Amand and Doyon. Conway quickly followed with a goal at 18:26 with helpers from his linemates, Therrien and Constable.

In the third period, Therrien scored a goal at 4:09 with an assist from his teammate Conway.

Cape Cod’s victory was in no doubt helped out by Maki as he stopped 18 of the 20 shots he faced. Maki’s counterpart, Sean, also had a big night, managing to stop 16 of 20, but ultimately fell short.

This win brings the Cape Cod Islanders’ record to (2-3-0-0).
