The Islanders struggled against the Nordiques 5-1 in home game

In the first, Labrie opened the scoring for L/A with a goal at 1:23 with a helper from defenseman Bennett. Chauvin netted what turned out to be the game winning goal at 13:18 with assists from teammates Secor and Malone. Labrie deposited a goal at 16:41 with a helper from his linemate Plummer.

In the second, Kervinen finally put the Islanders on the board with a goal at 5:21 with an assist from St. Amand.

During the third period, Secor answered for the Nordiques with a goal at 9:23 with helpers from Tehan and Ogle. Ogle scored a goal at 17:40 with an assist from defenseman Tehan.
