The Islanders crushed the Sharks 5-2

The Cape Cod Islanders' offense had a big night, peppering the Long Beach Sharks with 38 shots throughout the game. The Cape Cod Islanders took the lead before the halfway point in the second on a goal from Leevi Kervinen.

Leevi Kervinen did his part, adding 3 points (2 goals, 1 assist) and Cody Doyon delivered for his team with 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist). Jackson Wellmeyer chipped in with 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist).

In the first, Kervinen opened the scoring for the Islanders with a goal at 8:02 with helpers from his linemates, Sinisalo and Doyon. Bergman answered for Long Beach with a goal at 11:09 with helpers from his linemates, Mukovoz and Wellmeyer. Wellmeyer deposited a goal at 19:41.

During the second period, Doyon answered for the Islanders with a goal at 12:01 with assists from his teammates Marston and Sinisalo. Kervinen netted what turned out to be the game winning goal at 14:56 with helpers from Crawley and Hinckley.

During the third, Conway deposited a goal at 8:35 with assists from Bowe and Dougherty. Little put in a goal at 11:31 with helpers from Kervinen and Sinisalo.

Cape Cod’s victory was in no doubt helped out by Maki as he stopped 14 of the 16 shots he faced. Maki’s counterpart, Cortez, also had a big night, managing to stop 33 of 38, but ultimately fell short.

This win brings the Cape Cod Islanders’ record to (9-27-1-0).
