The Cape Cod Islanders (7-3-1) sit in second place in the Eastern Division of the NA3EHL. Much of the team's early sucess goes back to its team captain, Eric Szeker. Szeker has been a member of the Islanders for the past three seasons and has grown as both a player and a young man by leaps and mounds. Islanders president, Dan Hodge, coached Szeker for his first two seasons on the Cape. "It's been great to see the development of Eric over the past three years. He has matured as much on as he has off the ice. When he got here you could just see the leadership he posessed, he was clearly the best all around defenseman we have had here in a long time." He was courted by teams in other leagues this off season but he ultimately decided on returning to the Islanders.
Szeker is now the third player the wear the captain's C in the team history. (Justin Demone, Chris Harris) "We have had some great young men be our captain in the past, each guy has set a certain standard. Eric has succeeded in rasing the bar as to what we will look for in a leader for years to come." Hodge said
