Head coach Jay Punsky is pleased to announce that Nash Braun has signed a Tender Agreement with the Cape Cod Islanders. Braun, the 5'9" 175 pound winger from Buffalo, NY played 29 games last season for St. Joe's and scored 9 goals and 24 assists. "I am extremely excited to play for the Cape Cod Islanders next season. I am honored to be part of such a first class organization." Braun said "After visiting and meeting with coach Punsky I got the sense of the positive attitude that surrounds the team. I was able to witness how far ahead this organization is in the maturing and development of its players and that was a huge deciding factor for me signing here."
The Cape Cod Islanders have committed nine players to college and one to the NAHL for next season. Development is paramount for the team, the staff works tirelessly in that regard and that was apparent to Braun. "Seeing what the Islanders have done for their players in the past, I knew it was best for my development. I was very impressed how they immerse you into a hockey culture and I know they will give me the best chance to succeed next season and beyond."
Coach Jay Punsky was impressed with Braun's work ethic and tenacity while spotting him at a combine in Buffalo, NY. Punsky was scouting the U18 nationals in Amherst, NY when he made the drive to Buffalo to watch a combine that was being held there. "I heard there was a combine that wasn't too far away so I made the drive to Buffalo and I am very glad I did. I saw some very good talent, but Nash really stood out to me. I loved his compete level and how every time he was on the ice he made something happen. I knew that he was exactly the player we love to have in an Islander jersey." Punsky said "I'm very excited that Nash Braun will be playing here next season."
