Joe Brennan Re Signs with Cape Cod

The Cape Cod Islanders are pleased to announce that Joe Brennan has agreed to return next season.  Brennan, the 6-1 175 pound defenseman from Philadelphia was the true definition of iron man last season.  A season that saw him dress for all 44 regular season games, where he recorded one goal and eight assists and was an impressive +22, he also dressed for all 6 playoff games.  Over the course of the season Brennan was used in every situation but he excelled on the penalty kill.  The resigning of Brennan along with fellow defenseman Jake Davis, last week, shows that the corps of the team is starting to come back and is a great sign for the defense of their Eastern Division crown.

"We are so happy that Joe Brennan will be an Islander again next season.  He is a very important part of our core group and the the fact that he had multiple offers to ge elsewhere and decided to come back to us speaks to his character."  Head coach Jay Punsky said "Joe never missed practice and he made the most of the opportunity to improve every day.  There's a reason he was the only guy to dress in every game last season, it comes down to work ethic and coachability, two attributes that Joe has in abundance." Punsly concludes  "He truly is a team first guy, there will be a huge hole to fill with in the absence of Eric Szeker and Joe will be a guy we look to for leadership both on and off the ice."
