The Cape Cod Islanders are preparing for the fianl weekend of the 2015-16 NA3EHL regular season. The Islanders sit on top of the Eastern Division at 33-7-2 68 points. They need one point or a New England Stars loss to clinch the division and they will take on the Stars on Sunday at noon in Tyngsboro which could be a winner takes all scenario.
First they have to contend with the Maine Wild (7-36-0 14 points) on Saturday night in Biddeford, Maine. The Wild handed the Islanders a loss earlier in the season so Cape Cod can ill afford to be looking at the standings when the puck drops on Saturday. "We have to go out and play a full 60 minutes against Maine." coach Jay Punsky said "They have beaten us before and are more than capable of doing it again. We have to focus on the task, if we win, we win the division there's no secret and we know that."
The Islanders will travel to Tyngsboro on Sunday to take on the Stars, who they recently beat 5-4 in overtime last Saturday. It was a game that saw both teams seize momentum and then let it slip away. The Islanders were helped by Mike Jessman's 4 point game, including the game winner in OT. The Islanders jumped out to a 2-0 lead early and squandered it, the Stars took advantage of their power plays going 3 of 7 for the game.
