The Cape Cod Islanders (9-9-2) face off against the Syracuse Stampede (6-14-2) this weekend at Morrisville Colleg in Morrisvile, NY. This is the only regular season meeting between the two teams. The Islanders currently sit in third place in the Eastern Conference of the NA3EHL while the Stampede are in fifth place in the west. These games are sure to provide some excellent offense with both teams being led in scoring by two players from Quebec. The Stampede has high flying Xavier Perron, who has commited to Utica College, and the Islanders counter with Charles Antoine Malenfant. "Both of these guys are dynamic and can change a game every time they step on the ice. These guys will be fun to watch this weekend."
The Islanders have been very fortunate to have solid goaltending from Kevin Belanger and Patrick Spaulding. To bolster the team between the pipes, Brent Petrowski has been cleared for action and recently earned a 4-0 shutout against the Maine Wild. "We have a three headed monster in net. We haven't been this solid at the goaltending position for a very long time. Spaulding and Belanger have been stellar and with Petrowski getting healthy we will be a very hard team to score against."
The Islanders have four games left before the Christmas holiday, two this weekend in Morrisville, NY and they end the 2014 portion of their schedule with a home and home series with the Maine Wild.
