The Cape Cod Islanders headed in to last weekend with a home and home series with the New England Stars. The Islanders home half was Saturday in Falmouth. The home team jumped out to a 2-0 lead early in the second period on goals by Aaron Deady and Thomas Tobey. The Stars cut the lead in half mid way through the period on a goal by Ryan Paul. Cape Cod’s James Brosnan scored the next two Islander goals to give the hosts a 4-1 victory.
On Sunday the Stars returned their home ice looking to avenge the outcome of the previous night. The Islanders again jumped out to the early 1-0 lead on a highlight reel goal by captain Chuck Costello. The Stars tied it at one on an Ian Gately power play goal. The Islanders next three goals were scored by James Brosnan. The Stars made it close but the visitors were able to hold of a late surge to secure the 5-4 victory.
