Cape Cod Islanders head coach, Jay Punsky is happy to announce the signing of power forward Dan Moore for the 2015-16 season. Moore, the six foot two inch 200 pound forward scored five goals and added sixteen assists last season for the New Jersey Avalanche despite being moved to defense for most of last season. "I consider myself to be a well rounded and versatile player, so when the coach asked me to jump back and play defense last season, I was more than happy to help my team out." Moore said "I pride myself on being responsible in all three zones. I like to play a physical, puck posession game and use my vision and passing ability to set up my teammates for scoring chances."
Islanders team president, Dan Hodge and coach Punsky scouted Moore at a recent summer showcase and the two were immediately impressed with what they saw in him. "We knew when we saw Dan hit the ice we wanted to speak to him about next season." Hodge said "Luckily for us he was friends with a few of our current guys and we were able to talk to his parents about what our program could do for their son."
Moore is the kind of player that every coach would like on his bench and Punsky is no different "Dan is a big strong, physical power forward whose skating ability allows him to take the puck wide and drive the net with force. He is going to make life very difficut for opposing defensemen and goalies."
The Islanders suumer is quickly coming to an end with training camp starting September 1 and the regular season beginning September 12 on the road aganst their closest rival the Northeast Generals.
