Islanders Sign National Championship Goaltender Esa Maki

The Cape Cod Islanders are excited to announce that goalie Esa Maki has signed a contract for the 2017-2018 season. Esa is coming from the 18U Maine Moose program where he has helped lead his team to back to back National Championships along with 4 State Titles in his 5 year tenure with the Maine Moose. Esa was previously drafted by Cape Cod this past season but decided to play one final season with the Moose before making the jump to junior hockey. GM Dan Hodge said he is excited about the signing  “Esa  is a solid goalie who moves well side to side but can also handle the puck with ease, having a goalie who can be a third defenseman will help the team offensively.”

Maine Moose GM Ben Gray said he was pleased with Esa signing with Cape Cod saying “I know he is in good hands with Dan and the coaching staff over on the Cape. I expect Esa will continue his dominant play in the net and will bring a solid presence to the Islanders organization.” Gray went on to say “during the 16-17 season Esa was called up twice to Topeka in the NAHL and hope the opportunities will arise for him again.”
