The Cape Cod Islanders are pleased to announce the signing of left wing Karl Eric Demers for this upcoming season. Demers comes from King's Edgehill prep school in Halifax, Nova Scotia and will occupy Cape Cod's remaining import roster spot for the upcoming season. The six foot two inch 195 pound left winger will add scoring punch to the Islanders line up. "I am very happy to be signing with Cape Cod, from the first time I met Dan Hodge and coach Punsky I was impressed with what their program had to offer." Demers said "I am looking forward to representing the organization next season both on and off the ice."
The Islanders brass scouted Demers in early April at a showcase in Exeter, New Hampshire and then again in June at the Pre Draft showcase. Over the past four months the two sides kept in contact and the Islanders were finally able to sign the standout last week. "We are excited to have a player of Karl's caliber and character on the team." president Dan Hodge said. "He definitely takes our offense to a different level."
Demers' father, Eric, was a former NHL drat pick of the Montreal Canadiens in 1984 and his sister will star for Merrimack College women's hockey team this winter. "Karl has a hockey pedigree and we are looking at him as an impact player on this roster." coach Jay Punsky said "He has the size and ability to be a premier player in the league. I am thrilled to be working with him this winter."
The Islanders are looking for host families for the 2015-16 season in the Falmouth area. If you are interested in hosting a player please contact Dan Hodge at email@example.com for more information.
