Islanders Sign Goaltender Anton Zemba

Cape Cod Islanders Head Coach, Jay Punsky is pleased to announce the signing of goaltender, Anton Zemba who was starred at Moses Brown High School last season. With last season's trio of goaltenders all moving on Zemba comes into a situation where there is no returning netminders and the competition for playing time will start on day one.

Last season, the Islanders boasted two goalies, Patrick Spaulding (Slippery Rock University) and Kevin Belanger (Rice Memorial) in the top ten of the NA3EHL. Brent Petrowski (University of Rhode Island) saw limitted action due to a broken hand suffered in week one, but was able to earn three shutouts in his eight games played.

Zemba, the five foot eleven inch 160 pound goalie from North Smithfield, Rhode Island is a self described hybrid goalrender who's favorite team is the Boston Bruins and Tuuka Rask is his favorite player.  His goals are to play hockey in college and to help the Islanders to their first league title.

Coach Punsky says "Anton is a very technically sound goaltender who uses his size and lateral movement to his advantage.  He works hard and displays a quiet confidence in net.  He will give us a chance to win every time he is net and that is all I can ask for as a coach."  Punsky continues "You want to build a team from the net out, it's the most important postion, we are looking for big things from Anton next season."
