The Cape Cod Islanders season came to an abrupt at the hands of the New Hampshire Fighting Spirit last week. The series ended 2-0 in favor of the Spirit. Game one ended 2-1 on Wednesday in four overtimes and the Isles dropped Friday's decision 3-1.
The Islanders now face an offseason that will have more tunrover than usual. Aging out of the program are familiar faces that have been on the team for multiple seasons. Captain Chris Harris, Christian Holmes, Patrick Spaulding, Tyler Stoll, Kevin Belanger, JS Dufort, Isaac Bosse, Chrles Malenfant, JC Moritz, Eric Szeker, and Colton Hart are all moving on to the next step in their careers. "It's definitely a bitter sweet day for me as a coach. I have to say goodbye to some guys that I have seen grow as hockey players and young men over the past few seasons. I'm extremely proud to have coached each and every one of these guys and am looking forward to watching what the future holds for them."
When the 2015-16 season rolls around, there will be a ton of new faces, but the team's mission will remain the same, to help make great hockey players and even better young men.
Thank you to YD youth hockey, the DY Girls Varsity team and the fans that showed up on a nightly basis for all your support. You are the best fans in the league!!
Have a safe summer and we'll see you in September…..
