Cape Cod Islanders captain, Chris Harris has commited to Post University for the fall of 2015 and will play hockey for the new Division 2 program. Post University will apply to be members of the NE-10 Conference and are prepared to move forward with an independant schedule should they not be admitted. Harris will join teammate Mack O'Shea in Waterbury, Conneticut next winter.
Chris Harris, the native of Centerville, Ma was a standout for Barnstable High School and lead the Raiders to the state playoffs in multiple seasons. As a member of the Islanders he was named assistant captain in his first season and the team captain the past two years. Harris blossomed from a role player in year one to a true team leader for then head coach Dan Hodge. "Chris was a great player for us, from day one he had a quiet confidence that told me he would be a guy I could depend on and three years later his hard work has paid off. I played him in every situation power play, penalty kill, center, wing it didn't matter he responded each and every time."
"I am honored that I have been given this opportunity by Post University and coach Whitney to represent the school and the program. I know that the hard work is just beginning and I am eager for the chalenge." Harris said "The last three years, while playing for the Islanders and coach Hodge, I have learned a lot about the game and how to be a leader on and off the ice. I truly believe that I have become a better player and person after playing for him. I'd like to not only thank coach Hodge but also coach Nickerson, Barnstable High, my teammates, friends and family for supporting me."
The Islanders would like to thank Chris Harris for his dedication to the organization and being everything that we look for in a player. We wish him the best of luck at Post University and are looking forward to his successes both on and off the ice. We will miss you Cap.
