Islanders Beat Lockport, 5-3 in Hard Fought Contest

The Cape Cod Islanders (27-4-2 56 pts) bested the host Lockport Express (13-16-4 30 pts) in an up down contest that saw both teams playing hard nosed hockey and neither refusing to give an inch. Islanders forward Chuck Costello scored the first goal and the last goal in the contest.  His first came at 7:04 of the first period on the power play, where he buried a nifty backdoor pass from Mike Jessman.  Costello's second was on an empty net to secure the 5-3 victory and to extend Cape Cod's winning streak to sixteen

Mike Jessman had four assists and Aaron Deady, Dan Moore and Maxime Dordet each chipped in a goal.  Goaltender Steven Schmitt made 42 saves and had multiple hilight reel saves in the last minute of the game to secure the win.

The Isles face off against the Wilke Barre Miners today at 4 pm, you can follow the game on Fasthockey.
