The Cape Cod Islanders shook off a nervous start in the first period to explode for four goals in the second period en route to a 6-1 win over the Skylands Kings in Game 1 of the Eastern Division Semifinals of the NA3EHL playoffs. While all four lines were represented on the scoresheet, Karl Eric Demers netted a pair in the victory. The Islanders and Kings face off today at noon in Falmouth, the Islanders will be looking to close out the series where the Kings will be looking to force a deciding game three.
Islanders head coach, Jay Punsky was pleased after the game with his team's effort. "It was great to see all four lines get involved in the scoring. Each line played a key part in tonight's win and that's the commitment we will have to show in game 2." Punsky also knows there are areas where the team must improve. "We have to do a better job in our own end at limitting turnovers. The wingers, especially, need to be better along the walls and helping out in the slot. As good as it feels to get game 1, we know that they are more than capable of taking game 2. We have to be prepared to play our best game of the season today."
